Fazenda Rincão da Palha, Bom Jardim da Serra, SC

Experiences on the farm

Farm life meets the canyon.

Canyon, orchard, horseback ride, barn and a house to stay and slow down.

In the Santa Bárbara area, 12 kilometers from the center of Bom Jardim da Serra, Fazenda Rincão da Palha welcomes visitors who come to see the north side of the Laranjeiras Canyon, to rest in a rural stay and to feel the daily rhythm of a family property up close.

Our history is documented since 1775 and has stayed with the family for several generations. The visit also takes in the apple orchard and the highland barn, built more than 80 years ago and today our reception area and gathering place.

Experience 01

Laranjeiras Canyon trail

The Laranjeiras Canyon is one of the most impressive sights in Bom Jardim da Serra, and its north access lies within the farm's boundaries. The walk leads to the Mirante dos Pinheirinhos viewpoint, at the canyon's edge, where you can take in the cliffs and the highland fields. The view from the lookout often appears in films and aerial footage shot in the Serra Catarinense.

The farm headquarters is 12 kilometers from the center, on a dirt road, and can be reached by ordinary cars. They can go about 1.2 kilometers along the route, depending on access conditions.

Experience 02

Apple orchard

Our orchard has about 4,000 apple trees over 3 hectares. The landscape changes through the year, following the cycle of the trees.

Bom Jardim da Serra is among the municipalities within the geographical area of the Maçã Fuji da Região de São Joaquim designation of origin. This link to the territory helps tell the story of local fruit growing and farming at altitude. A visit to the orchard lets you see this rural landscape and its production cycle up close.

Experience 04

Highland barn and Bistrô Vaca Véia

With more than 80 years of history, our barn was once the place for ranch work, horses, dairy cows, cattle branding and conversations around the open fire. Today it is the farm's reception area. The marks of rural life remain in the architecture, the stalls and the stories that are part of the family's memory.

The Bistrô Vaca Véia operates in the same space. Groups and guests can arrange a lunch or dinner, booked in advance. The kitchen celebrates highland flavors, such as carreteiro, and local products, including Queijo Serrano cheese, Fuji apples, bracatinga honeydew honey and fresh cheese. Altitude wines can also be part of the experience, depending on the menu and availability. Arrange your meal before your visit.

Experience 06

Bom Jardim da Serra

The farm is in the Santa Bárbara area, high in the Serra Catarinense. For those coming up the Serra do Rio do Rastro from the coast, the town invites you to continue the journey among canyons, waterfalls, highland fields, araucaria trees and mountain flavors.

Bom Jardim da Serra received the Green Destinations Silver Award 2025, recognition of responsible destination management, protection of natural landscapes and support for local culture and economy.

The region also includes the Caminhos da Santa Bárbara Scenic Route, which crosses rural landscapes and connects countryside communities. The Bom Jardim da Serra Canyons Circuit is being developed to bring together the destination's four giants (Ronda, Laranjeiras, Funil and Portal) and encourage visitors to stay longer. The north access to the Laranjeiras Canyon passes through Fazenda Rincão da Palha.
